Woooo!! It’s Thursday!!! And welcome to the first ever Yu-Gi-Oh! Talk!!! Today’s post is about the differences between playing the trading card game and the anime series in each of the different generations of it.

The major differences between the two involve playing and summoning monsters. But there are others differences that are seen too.

1. Summoning monsters.
In the anime, you’ll regularly see the characters summoning monsters in face-up defence mode, and doing more than one normal summon in the same turn… But in the rules of the trading card game, it says that you can only summon one monster in face down defence position, or one monster in face-up attack position per turn, but you can flip as many monster from face down defence to face-up attack as you have face down, but you can’t flip a monster face-up that you set face during the same turn.

2. Fusion monsters.
Fusion monsters are a major part of the first and second series of the anime. Fusion monsters are a type of monster that can be special summoned by using two or more monsters and a sell card called Polymerization. In the anime, all Fusion monsters had to wait a turn before the character could use them to attack, like Summoning Sickness that Creatures have in Magic the Gathering. Or the character would play a spell card called Quick-Attack, this allowed all Fusion monsters summoned in that turn attack instead of waiting. But… In the Trading card game, there is no such rule!!!

3. Xyz monsters.
Xyz monsters are a new type of card that was introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal series. These monsters are another type of monster that is Special summoned to the field by tributing two of more of the same level or level and attribute that is written in the card’s description, and a Xyz monster with the corresponding Rank is then played and keeps the tribute monsters as Overlay Units in the Anime or Xyz Material in the trading card game. The anime introduced two different types of these monsters, Number/Chaos Number monsters, and regular monsters. The only difference between the two types is that in the anime, the Number Monsters and Chaos Number Monsters can only be destroyed by other Number or Chaos Number monsters. But… In the trading card game, there is no such rule!! This then makes these ‘Unbeatable’ Monsters very beatable.

What other things do you guys want to know about? The anime characters? Or other things to do with the shows, and the card game? Let me know in the comments below!!
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this, so until next time. Keep Duelling!!
